The story...

I was contacted by avid trout fisherman Alexey K. via email and through the course of our conversation we decided upon a Sage float rod conversion on the 4100-4 ZX fly blank.  He described the trips he takes, sent photos of the waters he fishes and filled me in on the size and species he'd likely encounter.  He gathered enough preferences, by perusing the IRC website, that he confidently chose to have this rod decked out with full compliment of my custom capabilities.  The finished product is a reflection of a traditional wrap color scheme merged with stabilized black ash burl wood and custom cork grips with just a bit more flash than all natural.  This rod will eventually be making its way to fish Russian / European trout waters.  I am anxious to see the photos of its maiden voyage and fishing success!

Build Review:

This was a very enjoyable build that went fairly smoothly.  It seems that the customer was very happy with the end result as he has given me details of several CTS rods that will be making their way to my bench for building in the near future.  I would imagine, given his preferences, that they will also feature figured/burled wood, custom cork grips and maybe even more intricate thread work.  We'll see and I'll be sure to keep you updated!

With this rod, the adventure ends, but another awaits my attention....
